Taiyo Oil organized "Sun(Taiyo)-nurtured forest of Ino Town", the 7th Forest Regeneration Volunteer Activities on Saturday, October 27 in Ino Town, Kochi Prefecture.
Participants learned on the day that thinning helps sunlight penetrate into the forest to promote the growth of trees and enhance the latent water retention capability of afforested land, and spent the morning thinning 15-year old hinoki Japanese cypresses. The afternoon involved a range of learning sessions to gain a further appreciation of the importance of nature.
A total of 40 people took part in these activities, including Oka President, and Morohara Senior Vice President and Member of the Board from Taiyo Oil, and other volunteer employees from Taiyo Oil and Taiyo Sekiyu Hanbai and their families.
This year will mark the 6th anniversary since Taiyo Oil concluded a partnership agreement with Kochi Prefecture and Ino Town for the "Project of Collaborative Forest Restoration with Environmentally Progressive Companies".
Over the past six years, Taiyo Oil has carried out forest volunteer activities under this agreement. Taiyo Oil will continue to promote forest regeneration activities.
