Taiyo Oil organized "Sun (Taiyo) - nurtured forest of Ino Town", the 8th Forest Regeneration Volunteer Activities on Saturday, March 15 in Ino Town, Agawa-gun, Kochi Prefecture.
The Forest Regeneration Volunteer Activities were the resumption after half a year of the Kochi prefecture "Sun (Taiyo) - nurtured forest of Ino Town," suspended in October last year due bad weather.
Participants learned on the day that thinning helps sunlight penetrate into the forest to promote the growth of trees and enhance the latent water retention capability of afforested land, and spent the morning thinning 15-year old hinoki Japanese cypresses. The afternoon involved a range of learning sessions to gain a further appreciation of the importance of nature.
A total of 41 people took part in these activities, including volunteer employees from Taiyo Oil and the group company, their families and former employees.
Taiyo Oil concluded a partnership agreement with Kochi Prefecture and Ino Town for the "Project of Collaborative Forest Restoration with Environmentally Progressive Companies".
Over the past seven years, Taiyo Oil has carried out forest volunteer activities under this agreement. Taiyo Oil seeks to contribute to local communities by promoting forest regeneration activities.
