Ehime Marathon is a city marathon that since the 48th marathon has undergone a major course change and has extended its maximum running time for completing the race. From the time it was redesigned as a city marathon, citizens who have participated in the marathon have given the event a rating of 90 points or more each year on RUNNET (https://runnet.jp/), which is a portal site for runners. Thanks to this rating, the number of registered participants has been gradually increased since the race became a civic marathon, reaching 10,000 with the 53rd race. Furthermore, the number of applicants this time greatly exceeded that of previous years, reaching more than two and a half times the maximum number. Of all the marathons held in Japan, the Ehime Marathon has become one of the most popular, attracting participants from all over the country.
