Event Highlights

This was the second time that Taiyo Oil’s President & CEO had spoken at APPEC. When Yamamoto spoke at APPEC two years ago, he emphasized the importance of diversifying crude oil procurement sources. With the recent deterioration in the situation in the Middle East drawing renewed attention to this issue, he once again participated in the panel discussion, which focused on the theme of strategic crude selection.

During the discussion, each panelist shared views from their respective perspective on the theme. Yamamoto discussed changes in Japan’s overall crude oil procurement flows, Taiyo Oil’s crude oil procurement strategy, and the need for strategic use of national crude oil stockpiles. Many industry stakeholders attended the session, and participants showed strong interest in these issues.

Following the panel discussion, there were also exchanges of views with industry representatives and media interviews, highlighting the strong interest in the crude oil procurement strategies of Japanese companies, including Taiyo Oil.

For Taiyo Oil, this was a very valuable opportunity not only to communicate its views and initiatives but also to exchange views with many overseas stakeholders.

Taiyo Oil will continue to take a strategic approach to crude oil procurement, the theme of this panel discussion, as it works to ensure a stable supply of energy.
