On July 25 (Sun.), “Taiyo Oil Presents Picture-Drawing Event with Incredible Zorori Creator Yutaka Hara,” of which Taiyo Oil is the special sponsor, was held at the headquarters of the host Ehime Shimbun (Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture).
This event was a workshop planned with the objective of providing elementary school children the opportunity to be exposed to good books, and giving encouragement to the children who will be responsible the development of the reading culture of the future. It was held in conjunction with the “33rd Ehime Shimbun Primary School Book Report Contest” of which Taiyo Oil is also the special sponsor, and the children’s book creator Yutaka Hara, who is well-known for the highly popular series “Incredible Zorori,” served as the instructor.
On the day of the event, about 30 elementary school children of Ehime Prefecture who had been selected by lottery, drew characters that appear in “Incredible Zorori” and original characters that they independently created, while receiving lessons on the basics from the instructor Mr. Hara.
Taking into consideration the current situation regarding the spread of infectious diseases, the instructor Mr. Hara participated online from a separate venue in Tokyo. In spite of this, the group of children still appeared to thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to be able to speak directly with the creator of the beloved “Zorori.”
The workshop was streamed simultaneously online so that children who were not selected in the lottery could also view it.
Through such activities in Ehime Prefecture where Shikoku Operations is located, Taiyo Oil will continue to support the education of the children of local communities who will lead the next generation.
