Taiyo Oil implements volunteer activities at "Sun (Taiyo)-nurtured Forest of Imabari City"

　On November 20 (Sat.), Taiyo Oil implemented forest-development volunteer activities at the “Sun (Taiyo)-nurtured Forest,” which is located in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.

　The activities are based on the “Agreement on Forest Creation Activities” that has been concluded by the three parties of Ehime Prefecture, Imabari City, and Taiyo Oil. Each year, a large number of employees and their family members participate as volunteers in forest-development activities in the area of the agreement, which has been named the “Sun (Taiyo)-nurtured Forest.” Although the initiative could not be held the previous two years due to the COVID-19 crisis, it was possible to recruit employees as volunteers and hold the initiative this year, for the first time in two years.

　In remarks for the opening ceremony, Taiyo Oil Executive Officer Mamoru Watanabe expressed appreciation to the personnel of local governments and local forest owner cooperatives for their efforts regarding forest-creation activities in the region on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, he conveyed to the participants that, as a business operator that handles petroleum products, Taiyo Oil is passionate about activities that are aimed at reducing burdens on the natural environment.

　Following the remarks for the opening ceremony, the participants carried out pruning work while receiving guidance from personnel of Ehime Prefecture, Imabari City, and the Ochi Imabari Forest Owner Cooperatives. After being briefed that pruning work is an important part of developing growing environments for the cultivation of high-quality wood materials, the participants dedicatedly carried out the work using ladders and saws.

　Going forward, Taiyo Oil will continue to participate in ongoing forest creation in the local area of Ehime Prefecture where Shikoku Operations is located, and carry out regional contribution activities that support conservation of the environment in local areas.
