2023.02.21
On February 16 (Thu), 2023, as the first phase of an EV sharing demonstration experiment using off-grid solar carports, Taiyo Oil introduced electric vehicles (hereinafter referred to as EVs) and off-grid solar carports for company use by Shikoku Operations.
The data obtained from this demonstration experiment will be utilized for various services leveraging the SS Network, including the introduction of new mobility options in future EV sharing businesses and the consideration of installation locations.
Taiyo Oil is committed to contributing to local energy infrastructure and promoting the realization of a new mobility society by creating next-generation businesses with a view to reducing environmental impact and strengthening community-based low-carbon initiatives.
Facilities outline
・Nissan Sakura: 1 unit
・Solar panels: 9 panels
・Power conditioner: 1 unit
・Normal charger: 1 unit
・Storage battery: 1 unit
・100V/200V outlets: 2 units
The solar carports installed at Shikoku Operations are of the completely independent “off-grid type”, allowing EVs to be powered by 100% renewable energy, with consideration for the environment. Furthermore, they are equipped with both 100V and 200V outlets, enabling the charging of smartphones and other devices during disasters. Thus these off-grid solar carports are expected to serve not only for EV charging during normal times but also as emergency power sources for the region during disasters.
Future developments
Taiyo Oil is currently developing an EV sharing app. After the app is released, we will collaborate with companies in Ehime Prefecture to conduct demonstrations of EV sharing using off-grid solar carports.
