Taiyo Oil Company, Limited commences sale of B5 diesel fuel at its Shinshiro Interchange Service Station (operator: Thanks Mobility Co., Ltd.) as a new initiative.
B5 diesel fuel is a fuel where less than 5% of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)—obtained by refining plant-based waste cooking oil (used tempura oil) and such—is mixed with diesel fuel. As a biodiesel fuel (BDF), it meets the compulsory specifications for diesel fuel stipulated by the government. Similar to conventional diesel fuel, it can be used safely with diesel engines such as those in trucks, construction machinery, and generators. Furthermore, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional diesel fuel.
Regarding this sale of B5 diesel fuel, Taiyo Oil will purchase B5 diesel fuel from a designated processing company approved by the government and supply it to the aforementioned service station. Taiyo Oil will continue to carry out full-scale purchasing and sale of biofuels and spread the use of next-generation fuels under the SOLATO brand.
