As part of efforts to realize a decarbonized society in the Chugoku area, our Chugoku Branch will begin supplying B5 diesel fuel, which is a plant-derived biodiesel fuel, to some of our contracted transport companies.
B5 diesel fuel is a fuel where less than 5% of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)—obtained by refining plant-based waste cooking oil—is mixed with diesel fuel. It meets the mandatory national standards for diesel fuel, can be used safely in diesel engines such as those in trucks, construction machinery and generators in the same way as conventional diesel fuel, and can also reduce carbon dioxide emissions compared with conventional diesel fuel.
Under this initiative, we will procure B5 diesel fuel from a specially approved processor authorized by the national government and supply it continuously to our contracted transport companies. By continuously using B5 diesel fuel, the contracted transport companies will contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the transportation process.
Through this initiative, Taiyo Oil will promote the wider adoption of biofuels while building a sales network for such fuels in the Chugoku area, and will continue to advance businesses that contribute to both the global environment and local communities.
